paths with views over Avon Gorge and of Suspension
Bridge; mature trees, avenues of horse chestnut, lime
and plane, clumps and specimens; open downland.

H Godwin to commemorate gift of Clifton Down to City
by Merchant Venturers; drinking fountain, Stoke Road,
(LIB II) 1877 for Bath & West Agricultural Society;
cenotaph (LB II*) c1760s to commemorate Indian
campaign and obelisk (LB II*) C18 to William Pitt, both
originally in grounds of Manilla Hall, Clifton and reerected
on Clifton Down in late C18 and 1883 respectively; railway tunnel vent in Gothic style (LB II)
c1870. Some features are Scheduled Ancient
Monuments.
