- Historic Development of the site
This was a naturalistic garden and plant collection 1872 by Hiatt
Cowles Baker for his father: kitchen garden now car
park, layout otherwise intact; terrace; rockery
containing series of linked ponds; specimen trees,
shrubs, wide collection of plants particularly alpines
and aquatics, many unusual. This garden was similar to
H.C. Baker’s own garden at Oaklands, South
Gloucestershire (qv).
